Fair treatment of part-time and temporary workers
Despite its economic challenges, Bangladesh has long been a social innovator in areas like microfinance, and now local entrepreneurs are competing to service the country’s large informal workforce.
This is good news for the many women who take on flexible work due to care and other responsibilities, says Sweef Capital Director Phuong Pham. Good leaders make sure they offer high-quality casual work and that workers are accorded comparable treatment to their full-time peers. With its significant informal workforce, Bangladesh is seeing exciting new businesses emerge to service informal workers in practical and novel ways, according to Nirjhor Rahman, CEO of the Bangladesh Angels investor network.
