The State of Indonesia’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem: Focus on the Green Economy

01/11/2025|In Publications|1 Minutes

This report provides a comprehensive examination of Indonesia’s green entrepreneurial ecosystem. It highlights the opportunities and challenges facing women entrepreneurs as they lead the country’s transition to a green economy. Produced through the KINETIK Sweef Entrepreneurs Program, this first-of-its-kind resource maps 304 organisations supporting entrepreneurs across the archipelago, from investors and accelerators to government actors.

The study sheds light on the burgeoning green economy in Indonesia, noting 87 organisations actively engaged in sectors like circular economy, renewable energy, and sustainable agriculture. It highlights 102 organisations promoting gender equality and inclusion, reaching rural and underrepresented founders. Regional growth is evident outside Java, though financial and infrastructural gaps persist in provinces such as Nusa Tenggara, Papua, Maluku, and Sulawesi.

The report details barriers such as regulatory uncertainty, limited climate finance tailored to entrepreneurs, and talent shortages, alongside actionable recommendations for building regional hubs, university partnerships, expanding sharia-compliant finance, and shared infrastructure.

This resource serves as a foundational tool to mobilise collaboration, develop robust support systems, and amplify the impact of green entrepreneurs nationwide. An upcoming interactive directory will further connect stakeholders across Indonesia’s green ecosystem.
