KINETIK Sweef Interns Case Study Series – Ivi
Iviola joined the KINETIK Sweef Entrepreneurs Program as an intern at Alner (one of the KINETIK Sweef Fellows) in October 2025 and continues her internship journey at Sweef Capital in March 2025. Her primary work focuses on social media content creation and communications support for the Program.
Tell us a bit about your background and interests.
I come from a Nutrition background at Universitas Indonesia, but throughout my studies I developed a strong interest in communications and social media content creation. I enjoy translating ideas into content that is engaging, relatable, and easy for people to understand.
As part of the KINETIK Sweef Entrepreneurs Program, I had the opportunity to work closely with both Alner and Sweef Capital. Through this experience, I became increasingly interested in working at the intersection of communications, sustainability, and impact.
What made you join the KINETIK Sweef internship, and how did your background and interests connect to its mission?
I joined the KINETIK Sweef internship because I was drawn to the Program’s mission of supporting women entrepreneurs and fostering inclusive, sustainable growth in Indonesia’s evolving economy.
Being placed within a KINETIK Sweef Fellow company like Alner was especially valuable, as it allowed me to directly experience how a mission-driven business operates on the ground, while also understanding how communication supports both business growth and impact.
Can you tell us about the Fellow you are working with, and the kind of work you have been involved in?
I worked with Alner, one of the KINETIK Sweef Fellows. Alner is an Indonesian circular economy platform that provides daily essential products in reusable and returnable packaging, helping reduce single-use plastic waste.
As a Social Media and Digital Intern, I was involved in a range of communications and marketing activities. My responsibilities included creating and managing content across social media platforms, supporting content calendar planning, and documenting company activities and milestones.
I also conducted research on social media trends, proposed new content ideas, and managed audience engagement across digital channels and community platforms. In addition, I supported campaign execution by coordinating with key opinion leaders (KOLs), analysing marketing data, and assisting in both internal events and external collaborations with communities.
Can you describe a project or initiative you’ve worked on that relates to entrepreneurship, gender equality, or climate action?
One of the key initiatives I worked on was the Circular Stand by Alner campaign, which aimed to promote low-waste consumption among Gen Z audiences in Blok M, South Jakarta. Through this campaign, I developed social media content to highlight how food and beverages purchased at the Circular Stand use returnable packaging, making reuse more accessible and appealing in everyday life.
This initiative contributed to climate action by encouraging behavior change and reducing single-use plastic waste through a more mainstream and practical approach to reuse.
In addition, I had the opportunity to attend a community event with Alner’s micro-retailer partners, many of whom are women. These sessions included workshops on sustainable practices such as upcycling fabric waste, composting, and turning waste into useful products. This experience showed me how sustainability initiatives can also support women’s empowerment at the community level.
How has your role contributed to the growth or impact of the KINETIK Sweef Fellow?
Through my role in content creation, I contributed to increasing awareness of Alner and its mission to reduce single-use plastic waste. By translating sustainability concepts into more engaging and digestible content, I helped make the topic more accessible to Alner’s target audiences, particularly households and Gen Z consumers interested in adopting a more sustainable lifestyle.
This also supported Alner’s broader goal of driving behaviour change and increasing adoption of reusable packaging systems through both online engagement and community-driven campaigns.
What hands-on experiences or mentorship have been most influential for your professional growth?
During my time at Alner, I gained hands-on experience in managing sustainability-focused social media, including understanding audience preferences, maintaining a consistent brand voice, and executing campaigns with KOLs and partners. I also learned how sustainability messaging can be made more engaging and relevant for different audiences.
From the KINETIK Sweef team, one of the most valuable learnings came through feedback and mentorship. I learned how to simplify complex ideas into clearer and more structured messages. This significantly improved my writing and communication approach.
Could you share an example of a challenge you faced during your internship, and how guidance from your team or mentors shaped your approach?
One challenge I faced was managing multiple content streams across different platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and blog content, while maintaining consistency and quality.
Through guidance from my mentors, I learned to adopt a more structured workflow, such as batching content production, dedicating specific days for shooting, editing, and planning. This approach helped me work more efficiently, stay organised, and maintain a more consistent content output across channels.
In what ways has this experience shaped your perspective on entrepreneurship, impact, or your future career path?
This experience has helped me understand how communications plays a strategic role within an impact-driven organisation. I now see that content and storytelling are not only creative outputs, but also important tools to drive awareness, engagement, and behaviour change.
Working at Alner also gave me insight into how social enterprises operate which has made the idea of working in the impact space feel more tangible and achievable for me.
How do you plan to apply the skills and knowledge gained through the internship in your next steps?
Moving forward, I plan to continue developing my skills in communications and content creation, particularly within organisations that focus on sustainability and social impact.
I aim to apply what I’ve learned about simplifying complex ideas, building meaningful narratives, and engaging audiences to create content that is not only visually appealing, but also purposeful and impactful. I am especially interested in roles where communications can help amplify initiatives related to climate action, inclusive growth, and community empowerment.
Fun question! If the KINETIK Sweef internship was a nasi padang order, what would it be and why?
It would be nasi rames with rendang. The experience at KINETIK Sweef Internship feels diverse and layered, just like a good nasi padang plate. I have met people with different backgrounds, expertise, and personalities, and each of them brings something unique that complements the team as a whole.
